One of the many good things about wearing makeup is that there are no rules! You can wear a full beat face or you can simply wear mascara. Usually when I feel like wearing little to no makeup, I either just throw on some chapstick or some lightweight products. I try to not wear makeup every day, but on those days when I need a little help from those all-nighters, I do try just a tad harder on my appearance so that I feel more put together.

Tinted Eyebrow Gel/Mascara

A tinted brow gel or a brown mascara is one of my favorite products. I do have eyebrows, but they are not as pigmented as I would like them to be, so this product really helps with adding that extra color to my brows. Not only does it give my eyebrows color, but it does not overdo it by adding so much color that it looks like I just got my eyebrows tinted or microbladed, then just walked out the house. This product also helps tame my eyebrow hairs when they are all over the place. My favorite drugstore brow gel that I like to use is the NYX Tinted Brow Mascara, it sells at $7.50 and puts in some serious work.

Tinted Lip Balm

I was so excited to find a moisturizing lip balm that gave my lips a little life. My natural lip color almost blends into my skin tone, so I feel like I look like I either have no lips or look dead. My favorite tinted lip balm to use is the Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm it sells for $4.99, I prefer to use the shade Rose, which is the red one in the collection. The cool thing about a tinted lip balm is that the finish is very natural, so it does not look like your wearing a full-coverage red lipstick. An extra perk is that your lips are always moisturized.

However, an alternative that I have come across is the Colourpop Blotted Liquid Lipstick, it retails for $7. The finish of this lippie is matte and feel like there’s powder on your lips but it’s not uncomfortable at all. This product lasts longer than the lip balm but is less moisturizing. It also gives your lips a little extra something without overdoing it.

Concealer

I try to keep it as natural as I can when I do my no-makeup makeup look, so I tend to skip over foundation or BB cream and just apply concealer. I dot some of my favorite Colourpop No Filter Matte Concealer, which retails for $6.50, under my luxury brand under eye bags and the areas around the face I want to cover up. What I like about this concealer is that it looks pretty natural on me, yet it also has enough coverage to cover my dark circles and hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. It is also a plus for me that the finish is matte because I have oily skin, so by the time I get home after a long day at school I don’t look too oily and the concealer isn’t patchy.

Mascara

The product that without a doubt really helps me look awake the most is mascara. My eyelashes are more on the longer side, but I don’t have many so I have to help them out a bit. There are plenty of mascaras out there and I tend to look for waterproof ones as they hold my curl the longest, but after a long day, the last thing I want to do is spend minutes wiping away stubborn waterproof mascara. Then, I came across the  Essence Volume Stylist Mascara, which retails at $4.99. There are two different mascaras in this line, but I prefer the pink one that it meant to hold your curl, I can verify that this product actually holds curled lashes! Even better is that this is a regular mascara, not waterproof, so it comes off easily and fast.

Why a No Makeup Makeup Look?

Many people wonder why others wear makeup to make it look like you’re not wearing any. The truth is that for me, makeup helps me feel put together and that feeling helps me get myself together and feel in charge of my life. I know right? Who knew makeup could have a deeper meaning. It is also important to note that if you feel more comfortable without makeup, then that’s also amazing! We should all wear our skin however we want because it’s ours and only we get to say what makes us feel most comfortable and feel like we are in charge of our lives.
