Ariana Grande has just released her new album Positions. As a fan of hers, I was ecstatic. I listened to the album as soon as it was released. Then, I concluded which songs were my favorite. Here are my top five favorite songs on the album that you should listen to.
- Off The Table ft. The Weeknd
-
At number one, my most favorite song is Off the Table featuring The Weeknd. Her and The Weeknd harmonize so beautifully together. A lot of fans speculate she wrote this song in honor of late ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller. She sings about not being “healed or ready” yet when talking about entering a new relationship. I have not stopped listening to this song since it’s been released!
- Positions
-
Next, Positions (yes it is the same name as the album) is another favorite. This song was released a couple of days before the actual album was released. This is a pop song that makes you want to get up and dance. The lyrics are so easy to memorize so you can sing along in the shower or with friends. Ariana Grande is known for having hit pop songs and this is soon to be one of them.
- Obvious
-
Contrary to Off the Table, my third favorite song from the album is Obvious which talks about believing in love again. Although I cannot relate to this song on a personal level, I still think this song is so cute. My favorite part of this song is when she continuously hits the high note because it reminds me of how much of a talented singer she is. Definitely, if you are a womxn falling in love again, this song is for you.
- POV
-
The next song in my top five list is POV. At first, when everyone was raving about this song, I didn’t feel the same way about it. Then I decided to listen to it on repeat, and now I can see why. This is a slow R&B song that reminds me of Mariah Carey’s music. A lot of theories came out about this song. One is that Grande wrote this song to promote her own self-growth. This song is perfect during those late-night drives.
- Safety Net ft. Ty Dolla $ign
-
Lastly, my favorite song off Grande’s new album is Safety Net featuring Ty Dolla $ign. If I’m being honest, this song could’ve been done without a feature, but I really like it anyway. This is another R&B type of song where she harmonizes towards the end of it. In this song, it seems she’s trying to let go of the past, come to terms with it, and move forward.
This may be a biased album review because I am a huge Ariana Grande fan, but Billboard named her album the “hot shot debut” and the song Positions continues to sit at #1 since the album has been released. So, pick up your music app and give it a listen!
