My Experience at Olivia Rodrigo’s Spotify Event

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Olivia Rodrigo is the top new artist that has been in the news recently for her debut album, Sour. However, her hit single Driver’s License is what put her in the limelight in the first place. I genuinely love her music, and I loved her new album. My best friend also feels the exact same way and she is considered Rodrigo’s top listener on Spotify. Because of this, she was invited to an Olivia Rodrigo Spotify Event and added me as her plus one.

We were so excited. It was a car wash event at a location in Los Angeles. We were told we would get a free car wash, be able to buy merch, and just have a good time listening to the album. On the day of the event we saw on TikTok other people going and they got to actually meet Olivia Rodrigo! This made us even more excited because we had a chance to meet her all for free.

I picked up my best friend around 5:00 p.m. and of course, we blasted the new album on the way over there. When we got there, the car wash was “Sour” themed and there were a lot of people outside taking pictures with the décor. We pulled into the car wash and the people running the event were so friendly. We first got our picture taken with a “Sour” backdrop. Then, as we were about to enter the car wash, we bonded with the workers talking about our favorite songs on the album. Rodrigo created a custom audio for everyone attending the event, so we got to exclusively listen to what she had to say.

During the car wash, my best friend and I jammed out to Sour. After it was done, we were given the limited-edition Olivia Rodrigo Sour Patch that was exclusively in the Sour Patch store in New York City, and other little “Sour” themed goodies. We were fed good food and had the opportunity to buy merch as well.

We found out that Olivia Rodrigo was there only for a few hours at the beginning of the event, but we still had a great time. The event followed all COVID safety protocols, and we are both fully vaccinated. It was so cool to be able to be invited to something like this, and I am excited to see more of Olivia Rodrigo in the future!
