Make-up Aesthetics Designers Can’t Get Enough of

Makeup and fashion are always pushing forward and this Fall/Winter is all about experimentation, nostalgia, and art. Being locked inside our homes has expanded many people’s creativity. Head fashion designer of Prada, Miuccia Prada, noted in an interview that remote runways have been “much more effort but much more interesting”. So what are the fashion giants reaching for in their makeup bags?

Intense Liners

Now that we’ve all had time to practice our make-up looks, it’s safe to say we’re a little more comfortable with the daring. Dior certainly took this trend and ran with it in this year’s Paris Fashion Week. The Dior models walked down the runway with bold fox-eye makeup looks. The designer lined the model’s inner corner, winged out the ends, and blurred the waterline with a blue shadow creating a compact almond-eye shape that makes any outfit look sleek and expensive.

Eccentric Styles

Social media has made it pretty clear that breaking away from conventional makeup is the new norm. The unconventional is buzzing right now. Gems, pearls, glitter, even colorful faux eyelashes have gained a lot of popularity. The insurgence of this makeup style began in 2019 following the release of Euphoria, an HBO TV series whose makeup, as the title suggests, was created to reflect feelings of intense happiness and excitement. Many now refer to this style as “Euphoria Makeup”.

Lately, a 90’s retro-inspired color palette has been making a strong comeback. Moschino’s latest Fall/ Winter collection is a perfect representation of the looks everyone is dying to replicate in the makeup world; it is a collection full of light pastel colors that combine business and kinder aesthetics into a playful and airy experience. Everyone was dying to show off their own take on the style. This season there’s been an influx of influencers who will wear pastel graphic liners as an accessory or complement to their outfits.

The moral of the story for this Fall/Winter is that just as the industry titans are having fun in this pandemic, you should also consider playing around with your own makeup looks. Whether it be adding a gem to the inner corner of your eye makeup or adding some pastel liner on top of your everyday look, adding an extra flair to your look is completely encouraged this season.
