How I Will Maintain a Healthier Lifestyle

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Riverside chapter.

Ever since 2022 started, I have been trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Being in college and always stressed with different tasks can make that a little difficult in the long run, but these are some of the ways I’ve been feeling healthier both mentally and physically and I would definitely recommend one to try them.

  1. Surrounding myself with positive friends

I tend to have a very negative mentality so by hanging out with friends who are much more positive, tends to uplift me and gets me to try to be in the same mood they are in. Despite this not being such a big deal when one first does it, it can make a huge difference as time goes on. I know for me, I tended to only be happy around my friends, but after some time I just felt happy as a whole without always needing to be around them.

  1. Working out/keeping my body moving

This helps not only to stay active but also to be more at peace and relaxed at times. Even though I don’t work out as much as I should, I know many times going out for a run or just stretching allows me to feel better and release all my built-up anger. Apart from exercising, doing that allows me to be active and sweat all my toxins out. In the end, it just benefits both your body physically and spiritually.

  1. Eating more at home

By eating more at home, I know what specific things are going into my body. I am not as worried about their benign excessive fats or calories. Rather here, I can cook my food however I prefer but in a healthier way than fast food. I have an air-fryer, but I use it more like an oven, so I tend to make my food there and most of the time I just cook veggies so I know I am getting my nutrients in.

Although these are some of the things that work for me, it does not necessarily mean that they will work for everyone else. I would definitely first try out different things and see what helps you feel healthier!
