How BTS Songs Changed My Life

This year I wanted to discover new music and diversify my spotify playlists with songs from different genres and languages. Little did I expect to become a huge fan of BTS’ music. After watching several music videos, such as “Butter” and “Permission to Dance,” I wondered why this group has such a massive dedicated fanbase, and why they are considered one of the biggest artists in the world. I found myself going down a rabbit hole, hopping between different albums all the way down to their first debut album. I now understand why BTS is loved by so many and personally I have found that their music has that power to influence and change the lives of so many young people. That being said, here are three of my favorite BTS songs that have changed my life and hopefully would change yours.

Life Goes On By BTS

BTS created this song during the early stages of the pandemic when the world felt as if it had stopped. Sometimes when you are going through a tough time, it’s easy to forget how minor our problems can be. Even when times have stopped or life gets overwhelming for us, it’s certainly helpful for me to remember that our life continues no matter what happens and we can always overcome obstacles and adversities with the support of good people around us.

Epiphany By BTS

Sometimes we need to love ourselves first before we love others. The central message is that one of the most important things in this world is to learn to love ourselves. With that said, this song gives me solace and is a friendly reminder that sometimes we should give ourselves credit for even the smallest accomplishments and that rejection doesn’t mean failure. It’s the sudden realization and powerful realization that even during our darkest and most difficult times, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel as long as we can stay optimistic and kind to ourselves.

Euphoria by BTS

The sweet, angelic melody of the main vocalist, Jungkook from BTS, and harmonious background instrumentals gives you a rush of euphoria when you first listen to it, hence the song title. Uplifting and powerful, this song just gives you that boost of serotonin that we all get from listening to feel-good music. The central theme is that euphoric, happy feeling we get from being around loved ones. While listening to this, I just thought about the platonic friendships I have that give me that burst of happiness and joy. Overall, it’s a song that makes you appreciate those around you and feel grateful for the happiness that they bring to your life.

Although every song is a masterpiece in itself, these 3 songs have certainly been the most meaningful in my life. With topics ranging from self-love and acceptance to personal growth, these songs are relatable to many young people’ lives and BTS’ lyricism has the power to touch all our hearts more than we have imagined.
