It’s Spring time! And is it just me or do most people seem to be in a relationship? Well not everyone is getting hitched but I’ve seen my fair share of Facebook relationship statuses going from in a relationship to engaged/married. The whole institution of marriage nowadays doesn’t seem to uphold the same values that it once did. Blame it on the media or blame it on society, but the truth is the younger you get married the less likely it is that you are to understand the real concept of it all. And since we’re young, why not enjoy our youth and all the splendors it has to offer before we commit our lives to someone. So here is my list of reasons for why you shouldn’t get married before the age of 25:
- There are plenty of fish in the sea. (Yes, you might think that John/Jane is the one. But have you ever stopped to think that he/she is just the one right now? But then again who really knows, John/Jane might be the one!)
- Most young adult relationships last a tad bit longer than Kim Kardashian’s wedding.
- You’re still changing and you might wake up one day and think why did I marry this person? I mean divorce is always an option but who are you kiddding you’re broke.
- Chances are if you get married at a young age you’ll eventually procreate. And most young adults don’t want kids when they can’t even find stable jobs.Â
- Focus on your future. Go to grad school, get your Masters or even better your Doctorate. It’s hard to do these things once you’re tied down.
- You can’t even decide on a major.
- What’s the rush? Live life. Explore. Learn new things. Meet new people. If you two are meant to be you’ll still be together several years from now.
- Because you’re 25 or under.
