Top 4 Winter Dates Ideas in London

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC London chapter.

Winter is here! If you haven’t got yourself someone to date by now, what are you waiting for? You might as well take advantage of this season by going on some cute wintery dates, trust me you will not regret it. FYI if you are single, just grab a couple of friends and go with them instead, we are strong independent women that do not need guys to have a great time!

Hyde Park Winter Wonderland

Just look at the views! That alone convinces many to check out Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, including many celebrities! I wonder who you will spot if you go? There’s an immense number of activities to do, from ice skating, to hoping on the rides, buying anything you can think of from the Market like food, drinks, and flower crowns. The list goes on and on. I do not know a girl who does not dream of having a winter date here, it is literally dating goals and nobody denies that. Entry is free so there is literally no need to break the bank for this date. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland ends on the 5th of January 2020, so you have plenty of time to head down to London’s favourite Winter Event.

Ice Skating at Somerset House

Don’t get me wrong, London has many places where you can do outdoor ice skate this winter. But what sets apart ice skating in any old place compared to ice skating at Somerset House is the beautiful historic building which will be your scenery! What better sets the date mood than this? Literally it isn’t even too far from the UCL campus (you could literally walk there if you wanted), so the perfect place for a quick after uni kind of date! You can book your tickets in advance to avoid the disappointment of long waiting times. The date doesn’t end with the ice skating, you can get some ‘Chocolossus’ aka hot coco from Fortnum’s lodge, the perfect chance to laugh about how many times you fall over.

Christmas Lights Tour

London has countless Christmas lights dazzling in the sky. Just to mention a few, Regent Street, Carnaby Street, Marylebone Village, St James’s and Chelsea. Perhaps, the perfect date would include going on a stroll to tour some of them. The coldness during your walk will be the perfect excuse to break the touch boundary through perhaps holding some hands and walking super close. Here is a full list of the locations of some of the best Christmas lights around London with some pics.

Watching Christmas Films at the Cinema

Winter is the only time of year it is acceptable to watch Christmas films. There are loads of hipster places you can watch Christmas films at, like the Rooftop Winter Cinema in Knightsbridges and the Winter Pop-Up Cinema at Southbank Centre. You do not want to wait until next winter to check out these gems. The best place to get a bit touchy feely is the electric cinema, you can book double beds and even sofas large enough for two people.
