The Starter Package is an exclusively local tradition that gets passed on solely by word of mouth. There is a ritual process for this amazing view of San Gabriel Valley, as silly as it sounds. First, grab some bubble tea at the Tastea in Hacienda Heights. Second, head to the Starter Package. It’s a short hike up an unlit mountainous hill, over the yellow triangular parking gate barrier and under the looming radio tower. In just under ten minutes, you can reach the famous plateau overlooking a 360 degree view of the valley. It’s the perfect place to view fireworks and the shimmering city lights and a terribly cheesy and romantic spot to show to your significant other.
