As we all know, a massive typhoon has struck the Philippines leaving over 10 million people in need of aid. CBS reported that over 2,300 people are confirmed deceased and this number is only increasing. With Thanksgiving just around the corner, here are some ways that would we all can give a helping hand this holiday season.

  1. Social Media Helps Out

As college students, I’m sure all of us check our Facebook every single day. Through the American Red Cross, Facebook has put up a banner at the top of the screen. If you click this, you can automatically donate $10.00 to go towards helping the Philippines.

Another social media task people can do is by reposting this picture:

By posting the photo above on Instagram or Twitter and hashtagging “#peoplewater,” the company People Water will donate $1 dollar for every repost. Check out @hercampusuci on Instagram to repost the picture from us!

  1. Red Cross

Red Cross is well known for their aid and efforts in helping those affected by natural disasters and the typhoon in the Philippines is no exception. According to their website, The American Red Cross has already been focusing on reconnecting separated families while the Philippine Red Cross has volunteers distributing necessary relief items. They also have volunteers on a search and rescue in the devastated areas to look for and help survivors.
