As the holidays approach, we transition from wearing thin clothing to thicker clothing and also changing our lipstick color. Now that it’s winter, we can start to wear darker colored lipstick, mixing it up occasionally with a nude lip. Here are my favorite lipsticks to don during the Holiday season.
1. Nyx Soft Matte Cream: Transylvania $6.00
Of all of the lipstick colors, this shade is the darkest. This formula applies as a cream and then dries as a matte. The color is dark violet and you can build the color, but you can also leave it less dark. The trick with this lip cream is to apply a thin coat at the beginning and continue adding to it, because once it dries, it tends to rub off.
2. Nyx Soft Matte Cream: Copenhagen $6.00
Another color lip cream, this shade can be described as an intense berry or a rich plum color. Just like Transylvania, it dries matte. Out of all the lipsticks and lip creams, this is the color I gravitate toward most because it is not too dark and it goes well with a broad color scheme in clothing. This lip cream also is the one you can control how dark and how light you want it to appear on your lips.
3. MAC Viva Glam 1 $16
This lipstick is also of one my favorites because of the intensity of the color. The color is a really deep red with a brownish tint to it. The lipstick is matte, but once applied it does not feel dry on the lips and rather it has some moisture to it. To me, this is the perfect lipstick to wear for those Christmas parties.
4. Rimmel London Lasting Finish Kate Moss 10 $5.00
Rimmel’s iconic Kate Moss collection has various shades of red, but this is the truest red. It is a bright cherry red lipstick that is very festivity-appropriate. The finish of this lipstick is really creamy and can be challenging once applied because it tends to bleed a little bit, but with an anti-feathering lip pencil you are good to go.
5. MAC Alluring Aquatic: Enchanted One $17.00 & Buxon Lip Cream White Russian $19.00
Just because it is the holidays does not mean you cannot rock a nude lip. MAC came out with a special edition lipstick called Enchanted One that is a matte nude lip color with peachy undertones. This lipstick does tend to be a bit drying on the lips, so I like to top it off with the Buxon Lip Cream, which gives it that right amount of shine and pop of color for the lips.
6. Milani: 26 Nude Creme $6.00
Since Enchanted One is a limited edition lipstick, another option is this Milani pink nude lipstick. Even though Enchanted One is a nude lipstick, once applied to the lips they are similar and serve the same purpose. This formula is a bit more creamier, so once applied you do not have to worry about adding a gloss.
