Mad Men Inspiration: Updated Mid-Century Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

Any Mad Men fans out there? It is only my favorite show in the history of television. I picked up this dress at a discount store in San Clemente for a whopping $6 and part of its appeal was that it seemed like an updated version of something I once saw Joan Holloway wear (as pictured). The length is a contemporary style, but the neckline and color are inspired by the infinitely classy mid-century fashions depicted on Mad Men. I paired the dress with scalloped black flats and teased my curly hair à la Megan Draper for amplified vintage charm. I also included a gold chain necklace, though it’s not nearly as cool as Joan’s pen necklace.

Please take note of my over-saturated 60s-esque photo filters and my attempt to channel Joan’s signature strong and seductive stare on the left. These are key details.
