Kindness is Key

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

These days, I can not open the any news site without being bombarded with bad news.  I stop to think if there is much kindess left in this world. But, I remeber that no matter how much hate and hurtfulness is out there, love and kindess will always conquer.

As a society, we live such a fast paced lives, and we forget how important it is to be kind. We often think that we are not capable of making a change in someone’s life. But, it is actually the opposite. We can make small changes in our lives that can change someone else’s. Giving someone a smile, writing a letter to a friend, sharing a meal with a friend, the list goes on. The small acts of kindess you perform in your day to day lives, can make a difference. At the end of the day we are all human, and we all deserve to be treated with the same respect and civilty. No matter your background, treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. If you feel someone is being treated unfairly, speak up. If you see something unjust, step in. Your voice is your most powerful tool, and if you use it correctly you will  be able to make a difference in this world. There are some days you feel you can not make effective change, but if you take the time to perform one small act of kindness you may have changed someone’s life. No matter the obstacles this world will throw your way, do not give up on kindess. Do not give up on goondess. Do not give up on love.

It is easy to get carried away with the unjust and somewhat cruel world we live in today, but the more kindess and love that is spread around, the less harsh the world will seem. At the end of the day we all share the same sky.
