Here Are the Best Japanese Restaurants In Irvine, CA

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

While studying abroad, do you miss your home country’s food? If you’re like me, I am entirely missing Japanese food. However, I heard that there were many Japanese restaurants in Irvine, and so I went to some. Here are what I think the best Japanese restaurants are in Irvine.

1. Honda Ya

First, I want to introduce Honda Ya, a Japanese izakaya! For me, it was very similar to authentic Japanese izakaya. I ordered sashimi, karaage, sake, and yakitori. Everything was super delicious, and I didn’t expect that I could eat natural Japanese izakaya foods! I recommend it.

2. Sagami

Second, I recommend Sagami, a sushi restaurant. I think that my favorite Japanese food is sushi. Also, this sushi was excellent. I ordered sushi don. It came in a square box and was very pretty. The price is a bit expensive at 35 dollars, but it is worth ordering because the sushi is very juicy and you can enjoy various fish.

Moreover, I got Hojicha and Macha ice cream. It was homemade. It was melting in my mouth and was very rich. When you go there, I recommend you order ice cream, too!

3. Yagi

Finally, I also recommend the sushi restaurant Yagi. The sushi was at the highest level in Japan, making me wonder if I was truly in America. I ordered Omakase sushi, so they made their sushi recommendations! You will be delighted because you can eat many kinds of sushi here.

Eating home country’s food in other countries is a little expensive, but It is worth eating. I would be happy if many people visited because they can enjoy delicious Japanese food here without going to Japan. I hope this article will be of some help in your search for Japanese food!
