Fall/Winter Trends

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.
As the leaves slowly change colors from vibrant green to deep yellow and orange, so do our wardrobes. We, collegiettes, must step out of our mini shorts and bright tanks and wrap ourselves with chunky scarves and warm, sultry colors! Below are five trends that will surely set you apart from the crowd!

1. It’s all about the plunging necklines.
This trend screams fashion and is meant for those daring enough to wear it. A friendly tip to those who are bold, the neckline should end somewhere between the breastbone and the naval. Remember, a little exposure can go a long way! As for those windy autumn days, a low cut top with a heavier fabric will do wonders.

2. Wide-legged pants are the elegant addition.
Say hello to the newest addition to your wardrobe! Wide-legged pants go hand in hand with low cut shirts and are perfect for those chilly days and nights. So try a pair, style it right, and choose colors that are warm and bold!

3. The reappearance of fur continues.

Sleeveless faux fur vests have been upgraded this season to coats with faux fur sleeves! A fur coat alone doesn’t make up this trend, but the way it is used to express this season’s other trends. Pairing it with structured and satin clothes gives it a new twist, not to mention the added flare of the burnt orange color peeking through the coat.

4. Solid metal jewelry. Have a hidden love for chokers, but think they’re too ancient? Well thank this season’s new trend for bringing them back, in style! Whether they’re gold, silver, or copper collars, this jewelry will add a fashionable twist to your outfit. They must be worn with plunging necklines and go perfectly with soft knits or cozy furs.

5. Pleats are here to stay.

If you’re looking to make a statement this fall, pleated dresses are the way to go! Not only do they add style, but also incorporate this past spring’s maxi dress trend.

So there you have it collegiettes, with a warm cup of coffee at hand, these trends will keep you in style during this season.
