The Dark Chocolate Lover’s Guide to Late Night Snacks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Irvine chapter.

I first started loving dark chocolate about two years ago and now I cannot get enough of the stuff!  Chocolate is a special food because everyone prefers to eat it in their own way, but as someone who would take dark over milk chocolate any day, I thought I would put a good word in for the dark and sweet treat!  Here are my five favorite dark chocolate snacks for a late night of studying!

1. BarkThins Dark Chocolate Mint

When I was growing up my mom always had with her a York Peppermint Patty with her.  The rich combination of dark chocolate and mint was delicious and refreshing. When I found this chocolate bark, I could not believe it existed!  It has small pieces of mint covered with a rich layer of dark chocolate! They are perfect for on the go or a night in! BarkThins has a large variety of delicious dark chocolate treats, so if you are not a fan of mint there is no need to worry!

2. Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

I have to be careful around these or they will end up gone in about two hours.  These delicious creamy peanut butter goodies can be found in Trader Joe’s frozen foods section.  They are mini so they are perfect for popping them in your mouth!

3. Sea Salt & Sugar Chocolate Almonds

I really like the combination of salty and sweet in these dark chocolate almonds.  They are delicious and a must-have for a late night in!

4. Ghirardelli Intense Dark Salted Caramel Crunch

I have just recently started having these and they are very good!  The caramel adds a delectable crunch to the dark chocolate. The dark chocolate is rich and flavorful.  It is the perfect treat to pop in your mouth! No one can resist a Ghirardelli square!

5. Dark Chocolate Lover’s Chocolate Bar

This chocolate bar takes a true dark chocolate lover!  It is 85% cocoa so the taste can be rather bitter at times, but if you like rich dark chocolate, this bar is definitely for you!

Hi! My name is Nat and I am a third year student at UC Irvine. I'm proud to call sunny Los Angeles my hometown.  I love being a tourist in my own city; going to museums, trying new places to eat, and exploring locations for cute photo-ops!
