The capsule wardrobe, built of basics and a few special pieces that can all work together to make plenty of outfits. If you read my previous article, The Basics of a Capsule Wardrobe: The Clothing, you can find out the essential clothing items to start building your own capsule wardrobe. Now, on to the shoes and accessories!
The accessories I am focusing on are wardrobe basics, but you can really choose whatever style of these as you wish. They are, after all, to accessorize your outfits. Keep in mind this list is limited to a very minimalistic approach to accessorizing, you can go as bold and add as many different accessories to your own wardrobe as you desire. I see accessories, especially jewelry, as a slowly growing collection that can always be added to and changed according to whatever style you like at the time.
Here are the accessory staples for a minimalist capsule wardrobe:
Shoes:

Black booties- They come in so many styles and add sophistication to any outfit all while keeping your toes warm. Choose a black bootie with buckles and studs if you want more of a statement shoe, or go for a sleek plain black boot for everyday style. If are less into black clothing, opt for a neutral bootie. If you wear more brown leather than black, opt for a brown bootie.

Nude flats- The classic nude flat literally goes with everything. Believe it or not, there are a lot of different styles of the nude flat; there’s pointy toes, round toes, patent leather, suede, etc.

Neutral sneaker- A cute sneaker is perfect for running errands, heading to class, and just about anything casual. Choosing a sneaker in a neutral color makes sure it will go with all your outfits. A sneaker in a textured fabric will also add visual interest to your outfit.

Neutral knee boot- A boot that ends below the knee in a neutral shade is great for keeping your legs warm and feet dry in the fall and winter months as well as completing an outfit. Make sure you pick a boot that is not too loose around your leg.

Black purse- A good purse in important for functioning when out and about. Pick a purse that fits your personal style and is large enough for your needs. If you’re not into black, opt for a grey or brown. Choosing a neutral shade that is in your wardrobe ensures your go-to purse goes with every outfit.

Clutch- A clutch or small purse is great for when you’re going out and just want to bring your phone, chapstick and some cash. Find a clutch that can be your go-to for any going out look, but is fancy enough for the nicer occasions as well.

Backpack- A small backpack is great for the activities where you don’t want to hold anything in your hands or over your shoulder. Pick out one that will add to your outfits without being a distraction.
