Meet ASUC’s AAVP- Natalie Gavello!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

Name: Natalie Gavello

Year: Junior

Claim to Fame: ASUC’s Academic Affairs VP

Natalie Gavello is the real deal. As the current Academic Affairs VP, Natalie has dedicated her Junior year at Cal to the Cal community and our academic interests. Hailing from Orange County, California, Natalie is a third year, ISF major with an emphasis on globalization and consumer behavior.

Natalie was elected in the Spring of 2012 with a Student Action platform that emphasized expanding career services, increased on campus study spaces and student advocacy to enhance students’ academic experiences. Thus far in her term, Natalie’s office has implemented huge changes on campus aimed at improving student’s academic success. Natalie and her office fought funding to keep the Student Learning Center open 24 hours a day. Additionally, Natalie’s office was able to fund a huge change that many students have noticed in Moffit Library: phone chargers available for rent! As a champion of bettering students experience on campus in order to enhance their academic success, this addition to the library allows students to stay in the library and continue to study without worrying their electronics will run out of battery! Natalie’s office has also brought www.thinkplace.berkeley.edu (a website that allows students to find great places to study) to life as well as the first Academic Senate in Berkeley which allows for greater collaboration between students and faculty.

Despite Natalie’s busy schedule as the ASUC AAVP, Natalie manages to find time to stay involved all over campus. She is an active member in her sorority, Delta Gamma, as well as a member of Theater for Charity. Natalie loves theater and improv!

In her free time, Natalie enjoys hiking, cooking, modeling and hanging out with friends.
