Festival Season Prep

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

Festival season is right around the corner, so how do you prepare? Get your tickets, book a hotel ASAP, go shopping and convince your festie bestie to do it with you… all over again.

If you’re still looking for tickets check the popular sites such as StubHub and Ticketmaster. Post on social media as well saying you’re looking for tickets and you’ll definitely find people who are selling. Be on the lookout for scammers! Even though sites and apps such as Craigslist and OfferUp may have some good results, there are scammers everywhere especially when buying online. So be careful!

Some of the best sites to shop on for your festival gear are Amazon, iHeartRaves, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and one of my new favorites, Jaded London. Whether you’re going to Coachella, EDC, Lollapalooza, Hard Summer, or Governors Ball, these sites have everything you need for wherever you’re going.

Hotels. Probably the most annoying and difficult part of the festival planning process is finding and deciding on a hotel. However, sites like Expedia, Hotels, Trivago and Orbitz make it easy to compare prices and find the best deals. Booking earlier will obviously save you money, but if you’re a little behind on your game you’ll still find a great deal. Expedia is my personal favorite because of the reserve now, pay later option! P.S. rumour has it that Sundays are the best days to book hotels as far as deals and price drops.

Now, convincing your festie bestie to go with you. We all have those friends that say they aren’t going or can’t go for whatever reason, but we all know deep down how bad they want to go. So just remind your friend of all the fun you’ll have, memories you’ll make and how the experience wouldn’t be the same without them.

And after this, all that’s left is the countdown…

As a senior undergraduate, I seek out all opportunities that expand my horizons, with the aim of developing professionally and deepening my vision of how I can positively impact the world around me. While most of my career aims revolve around healthcare and medicine, I enjoy producing content that is informative, engaging, and motivating.  In the past few years, I have immersed myself in the health field through working at a private surgical clinic, refining my skills as a research assistant in both wet-lab and clinical settings, shadowing surgeons in a hospital abroad, serving different communities with health-oriented nonprofits, and currently, exploring the pharmaceutical industry through an internship in clinical operations.  Career goals aside, I place my whole mind and soul in everything that I pursue whether that be interacting with patients in hospice, consistently improving in fitness PR’s, tutoring children in piano, or engaging my creativity through the arts. Given all the individuals that I have yet to learn from and all the opportunities that I have yet to encounter in this journey, I recognize that I have much room and capacity for growth. Her Campus is a platform that challenges me to consistently engage with my community and to simultaneously cultivate self-expression.
