It’s a new start, with a new city, school, friends, and everything in between! You are starting a new chapter of your life at UC Berkeley. It’s exciting to be in a new environment and meet new people, but at the same time, adjusting to a new life is difficult.

Attending the number one best public university in the nation opens doors. It gives you the opportunity to receive the best education, work with amazing professors, and meet students from all over the world. UC Berkeley is filled with opportunities and choices. What are you waiting for?

Are you having a hard time fitting in? It’s okay to struggle. Although most students don’t talk about it, finding your place in this big school can be overwhelming and challenging for many people.

If you’re overwhelmed, that’s okay. I was lost when I came to Berkeley as an international and transfer student. Finding your place can be challenging especially at such a big school. I went through a huge transition coming from my home country and community college.

Being with students who have similar backgrounds can give you a sense of community. Take advantage of the resources that the school offers. For example, consider attending events designed for international students and transfer students. Finding someone you can trust and open up to will help you.

You are not alone. You are meant to be here.

Welcome to Berkeley! I hope you will graduate with lots of good memories.
