Costumes for the Needy and Desperate

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

I hate to admit it but it’s officially less than a week from Halloween! If your life has been anything like mine has for the last month or so, just know that no one is judging you for procrastinating on your Halloween outfit, given that you’re on top of everything else. BUT if you’re in desperation at the moment, look no further. Here we unlock some of the easiest and cutest Halloween outfits for Fall 2016.

  1. The Tumblr Tourist

Buy one of the cheap flash cameras, (PSA: digital cameras or fancy cameras not recommended unless you want to run the risk of breaking it) find a fanny pack, and you’ve officially become Berkeley’s cutest tourist. To give the outfit a more refined look, pair it with some sunnies, a sun-hat and a cute flowy dress.

2. My Calvins Model

In the case that you own a pair of those super-in, adorable My Calvins, this outfit could be the most freeing. While the sports bra is an easy look to pull off, it’d be highly recommended to wear some cute shorts or jeans over the panties. Increase the quality of the look by creating a heavier make-up look that accentuates the fierceness of your eyes.

3. Unicorn

When was the last time you saw a unicorn costume in college? Not in a long time. Cut a cardboard and roll it into a cone with a point on one end, wrap it in white paper; tape that piece of art onto a plastic headband. Rock a white bodycon and there you have it!

Melody A. Chang

UC Berkeley '19

As a senior undergraduate, I seek out all opportunities that expand my horizons, with the aim of developing professionally and deepening my vision of how I can positively impact the world around me. While most of my career aims revolve around healthcare and medicine, I enjoy producing content that is informative, engaging, and motivating.  In the past few years, I have immersed myself in the health field through working at a private surgical clinic, refining my skills as a research assistant in both wet-lab and clinical settings, shadowing surgeons in a hospital abroad, serving different communities with health-oriented nonprofits, and currently, exploring the pharmaceutical industry through an internship in clinical operations.  Career goals aside, I place my whole mind and soul in everything that I pursue whether that be interacting with patients in hospice, consistently improving in fitness PR’s, tutoring children in piano, or engaging my creativity through the arts. Given all the individuals that I have yet to learn from and all the opportunities that I have yet to encounter in this journey, I recognize that I have much room and capacity for growth. Her Campus is a platform that challenges me to consistently engage with my community and to simultaneously cultivate self-expression.
