Campus Celeb: Fictional Students and Alumni

UC Berkeley has a grand history of extraordinary alumni who have grown to do amazing things in there lives. This week, instead of highlighting a real alumni we decided to do something fun and highlight some of our favorite fictional students and alumni in films and television shows. Check them out!!

1. Savages(2012) Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s character, Ben is mentioned as an alumni of Berkeley who majored in Business and Botany.

2. 21 Jump Street (2012) Dave Franco’s character, Eric, is mentioned to be attending Berkeley after high school. 

3. High School Musical 3: Senior Year (2008) Zac Efron’s character Troy Bolton announces that he will be attending UC Berkeley after graduation.

4. The Wedding Planner (2001) Matthew McConaughey’s character and Bridgette Wilson’s character met as students at UC Berkeley.

5. Full House: Candace Cameron’s character, D.J. Tanner accepts an admissions offer from Berkeley.
 
 
6. The Graduate (1967) Elaine Robinson was reportedly a student at UC Berkeley. Here is a picture of her walking down Sproul Plaza.
 
 
7. The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement (2004) Heather Matarazzo character, Lilly Moscovitz, claims to be a Berkeley graduate student.
 
8. The OC: Marissa Cooper and Ryan Atwood were supposed to attend Cal together before the fatal car crash that killed her. 
 
 
9. The Sopranos: Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s character,  Meadow Soprano first choice is UC Berkeley although her parents disagree with her. She is accepted but her mother, Carmela Soprano throws away her admissions letter but later retrieves it. 
 
 
10. TV series Weeds (Season 3) Mary-Louise Parker’s character, Nancy Botwin spent two and half years at UC Berkeley.
