Since the age of 4, Adora Svitak has been exploring the power of the written word. She began by writing numerous short stories, which after much persistence, resulted in the publication of her first book Flying Fingers at the age of seven.
At the age of twelve, Adora delivered a TED Talk entitled, “What Adults Can Learn from Kids” which subsequently went viral, and she has since organized the TEDxRedmond event from 2010-2013. Her eloquence on the public platform garnered her many invitations to speak at conferences around the U.S. and abroad (she has several events lined up for the coming months). In addition she has written numerous articles for various publication, including a series for the Huffington Post, and served as a youth ambassador for the World Food Program.
Adora is currently a freshman at UC Berkeley, pursuing a degree in Political Science. On campus she is involved with the Berkeley Democrats club and is a contributing writer for the Berkeley Political Review. Although she’s considering ideas for a new book—her areas of interest include education, literacy, and feminism—no definite plans for a topic have been set. After completing her degree at Berkeley, Adora plans to pursue a career in politics.
