At least once a month, I find myself in the kind of predicament that can only be solved with the click of a yellow ‘Buy it Now’ button. The kind of predicament where I’m missing an HDMI cable, my temper glass phone screen is cracked, or I need a Halloween costume by the end of the week.

It’s in these moments of desperation that I open my phone and immediately log in to my Amazon Prime Student account. Two-day shipping (and every so often same-day shipping) always seems to save the day. And sometimes, if I’m feeling eco-conscious, I’ll even combine my orders to cut down on shipping boxes. Oh and did I mention, the Prime Student Membership is free?

With your berkeley.edu email, you can get all the perks of Amazon Prime for free for up to 6 months. That’s just enough time to binge watch The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (2017) or screen Being the Ricardos (2021) using Prime Video, which is included with the student membership. Quick disclosure: both of these titles are some of the best pieces of media I’ve screened in the last year.

And if this still wasn’t enough to convince you to sign up for something for free, Amazon’s Prime Student Membership even offers some not-so-well-known perks for students on a budget. These include everything from access to Amazon Music and Prime Gaming to Amazon Photos and a vast library of ebooks with Prime Reading

Okay, hold up. Let’s cut to the chase.

If you take anything away from my love letter to Amazon Prime in a city like Berkeley where the nearest Target is a 20 to 30 minute walk, remember to save time. Redeem six months free today and place your next order using your Prime Student Membership
