3 Unexpected Valentine’s Day Date Ideas!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UC Berkeley chapter.

As everyone’s favorite (or for some, least favorite) day of love approaches, it is time to start planning that oh-so-perfect date with your beloved! Here are three unconventional and memorable ways to spend V-Day this year!

1. Enjoy a Three-Stop Date

Rather than enjoy appetizers, dinner and dessert in the same restaurant, switch it up and choose three different restaurants and enjoy each course somewhere different! Splitting up your meal will allow for the date to feel like a true experience. This date may take some extra planning to coordinate transportation to each eatery but will allow for extra opportunities to enjoy an evening stroll with your sweetie. If you aren’t comfortable with splurging on an expensive dinner for two, agreeing that one of you will pick up the appetizer/dessert and the other will pay for the main course beforehand will the awkward “Who’s is going to reach for the bill first” moment at the end of the meal!

2. Vespa through Berkeley

Who can swing a weekend in Paris full of Vespas and picnics this year? Not us! Fear not, you can have that scooter experience in Berkeley that (almost) rivals Vespa-ing the streets of Paris! Just head to Green Choice Moto USA on Bancroft Way for an unforgettable scooter experience! All you need is a driver’s license (motorcycle license not required) and you can rent the scooter of your choice by the hour–or if you’re feeling extra adventurous, the whole day. I suggest renting a Vespa for two! It will allow for some physical contact and you can show your date how you really drive a scooter!

3. Explore San Francisco via GoCar!

Ever seen those hilarious little cars zipping through SF? Both slightly embarrassing and hilarious, renting a GoCar in San Francisco is my go-to date idea for 2013! Tours are typically 2 hours and take you all over the city. The cars are equipped with GPS and a speaker system that describes the area you are driving through and local attractions! The best part? Though there is a recommended route, there is nothing stopping you from creating your own route! Umm…Anyone want to stop for ice cream in the Marina?

Whether on a romantic date for two with a longtime lover or spending the night with your closest girlfriends, enjoy your Valentine’s and remember what it is really all about–spending the day with those you love the most!
