The 2013 ASUC election are just around the corner which can only mean madness and craziness on campus. Student Action has yet to announce its slate, but CalSERVE and SQUELCH! have already announced their executive candidates. Throughout the follow weeks we will be seeing candidates running around campus to get their names out there and to get the most important thing that is: YOUR vote!
Around campus there will be sign-holding, intensive table-ing, late night chalking, increase of flyers, and much more in the following weeks. But before we get to this madness it’s important to know the candidates. Here are just some candidates to get to know:
SQUELCH!: Jason Bellet candidate for student body president.
CalSERVE: ASUC Senator DeeJay Pepito will be its presidential nominee.
CalSERVE: ASUC Senator Nolan Pack nominee for executive vice president.
Independent Candidate: Junior James Chang will run as an independent candidate for the ASUC Senate in the upcoming spring elections.
There are many more candidates to review which you can see on the official website of ASUC.
Election Days will run from April 9, 2013 (9 AM) – April 11, 2013 (11:59 PM). If you want to be part of the election you can apply as a poll worker any of these days. Poll workers will receive monetary compensation at an rate of $8 to $10, dependent on the shifts they sign up for. There will be 8 polling stations on campus where Cal students can exercise their voting privileges. At each of these locations, trustworthy poll-workers are needed to aid voters and oversee a fair elections process. If you would like to work as a poll worker this year, contact Daniel Du of the Elections Council for more information at pollcoordinator2013@gmail.com.
