No one tells you when you first start your degree how long – and then very short – the next 4 (or more) years of your life are going to be.
No one tells you that you’ll have some of the most amazing nights of your life…
But also some of the hardest.
No one tells you that you’ll make all kinds of friends – class friends, temporary friends, best friends, forever friends.
No one tells you how both sad and happy you’ll be when it’s all over.
No one tells you that you’ll wish your favourite prof would adopt you…
And how much you’ll miss your family.
No one tells you how much you’ll learn both in and out of class.
No one tells you how surprisingly comfortable you’re going to become at the library.
No one tells you how much exams will suck…
Or how wonderful a 4 month summer is.
No one tells you the bad choices you’ll make…
Or the very, very good ones.
No one can tell you any of these things, because the whole point of university is for you to figure it out.
Thanks for these past few years, UBC. It’s been a hell of a ride. I’ll miss you.
