Let me begin this article by emphasizing the fact that I am not a makeup artist. My daily makeup routine consists of brushing my brows, throwing on some moisturizer, and, if I’m feeling daring, some mascara. But, I am an absolute fan of Halloween and bingeing on makeup tutorials. So, I decided to merge those two interests together by testing out my amateur makeup skills and trying out some tutorials. The four looks I chose to recreate are simple, easy to do with limited products, and each only took me about fifteen minutes:Â
1. Sexy Vampire
This look was probably the most difficult, but it also ended up being my favourite. For this look, I followed Carli Bybel’s Sexy Vampire Makeup Tutorial. Instantly, I was worried about this look because a) it looked super complicated and b) Carli is gorgeous and I figured the look would not be as sultry on my own face. Still, I decided to give it a try and was pleasantly surprised by the result. For this look, I used Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in fair, Revlon plum lipstick, my Urban Decay Naked pallette (shades: sin, toasted, buck), Stila eyeliner and mascara, and fake blood from the dollar store. To complete the look, just add dollar store fangs and a little black dress.Â
2. Classic Cat Â
I decided Halloween wasn’t complete without the standard cat costume. I followed one of my favourite Youtubers, Karrisa Pukas, for this look in her tutorial. I used Mac Foundation, Naked palette (shades: sin, buck, hustle, creep), my Stila eyeliner and mascara, and Victoria’s Secret Beauty Rush lipgloss in cherry. Karissa provides some outfit examples in her tutorial as well, but all you need are cat ears and an all black ensemble.Â
3. Golden Goddess
This look really brought out my inner child. I watched ReadySetGlamour’s Golden Greek Goddess tutorial. Basically, all you need to recreate this look is a lot of gold eyeshadow: seriously, I covered my entire face in it. I had a lot of fun trying out this look, because, really, what other times is it acceptable to cover your face in glitter? I used my Naked palette (shades: half-baked, buck), Mac foundation, Mac lustre drops, Stila mascara and eyeliner, and Rimmel natural bronzer. To complete the look, just add a golden leaf headband and a white dress.   Â
4. Wednesday AddamsÂ
For my last look, I decided to do something a little more gothic and scary. I modeled this look after Madeyewlook Twice’s interpretation of Wednesday’s classic look. This was also a really simple makeup look, and definitely a good choice if you are thinking about last minute costume ideas. I used my Naked palette (shades: buck, naked, sin, creep), Stila mascara and eyeliner, Maybelline concealer. The main focus for this look is to appear very pale. I think I would wear this look out on Halloween, but, just a tip, you should invest in some black lipstick for the night instead of using eyeshadow like me: my lips are still super dry. To complete the look, braid your hair into pigtails and add a white collard shirt under a black sweater.  Â
