GradsLikeMe: Making Our Job Search Easier

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UBC chapter.

For anyone who has gone through the job/internship hunt struggle, I think we can all agree that it is a stressful and busy time! As a soon-to-be graduate, getting a job is something constantly on my mind. Fortunately for us, there are people who want to make this endeavor a little less difficult! GradsLikeMe, an online career platform for college/university students and grads, are here to help us on our job search!

If you’re in need of a job, the GradsLikeMe website provides a place where you can search for job opportunities, connect with experts in the industry of your choice, and create your own profile so that recruiters can find you! Instead of searching aimlessly for jobs on the Internet, GradsLikeMe centralizes your search and will make it easier.

GradsLikeMe allows you to create a professional profile with lots of detailed information about yourself, including research papers you’ve written, projects or labs you’ve completed, interests that make you unique, and much more. The coolest feature, in my opinion, is the video intro you can make for your profile. Letting recruiters meet you in a short clip is a great way for them to get to know you right off the bat.

One of the best parts? GradsLikeMe is free! So there is nothing stopping you from logging on and getting that job search going. With over 200 employers on the GradsLikeMe site, there are plenty of jobs to choose from.

GradsLikeMe not only gives you a better chance at finding a job, but they also have some nifty giveaways too! Their current contest includes a prize worth $500. If you want the chance at winning a Herschel Supply bag, $50 in gift cards to Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Staples, London Drugs, and Subway, headphones, a study pillow, and even a $25 gas card, then you better go sign up right away! This is not the only contest GradsLikeMe has hosted, so make sure to check back for more contests in the future.
