Ariana Grande Just Revealed the Track List for Thank you, Next

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UBC chapter.

Ariana Grande has been in the top charts for 11 consecutive weeks now. After releasing her newest singles, ‘Thank you, next’, ‘Imagine’ and ‘7 rings’, the pop star has given us an ever greater glimpse of what is to come. After months of speculation, Grande decided to reveal the artwork for the track list. Even better, she announced that fans would be able to pre-order the album starting a few days ago, on Friday the 25th and that the album would be released on the 8th of February, just in time for valentine’s day! I thought it might be interesting to go over some of the tracks and what she has revealed about them, as well as what people have been speculating.

Ariana has mentioned already that unlike her Sweetener era, this next album will be quite dark, and clearly, the aesthetics of the album cover displays that:

Once again, she is posing upside down with a black lipstick and the acclaimed phrase “thank you, next” all over her neck. At the back of the album cover, she included the track list and it goes like this:

The other night, Grande responded to some fan questions about some of her tracks.

She had this to say about the song “in my head”:

Ariana also mentioned this about “ghostin”:

Many people (including me!) believe this makes reference to her ex-fiance Pete Davidson. The most anticipated songs are ‘needy’ and ‘break up with your girlfriend, i’m bored.’

Her recent singles have been amazing, and it is clear that in this album she is opening up more about her feelings and personal life. Thank you, next has become an anthem for break ups. She is successfully teaching young girls that a break up does not mean the end of the world, instead, it is an opportunity for growth. I believe she decided to release theThank you, next album just six months after releasing Sweetener as she can now incorporate songs from both albums in her upcoming sweetener tour.

If you are interested in watching Ariana sing live, she will performing at Rogers Arena on April 27th, 2019!
