8 Thoughts Watching The Bachelor for the First Time

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UBC chapter.

Before Season 20 I had never seen The Bachelor, and quite frankly, I was proud of that. I almost used it as something to distinguish myself from my other friends. They would spend hours chatting about “who’s getting tonight’s final rose.” I believed I was above that. However,  people change, and this year I was hit by a serious case of the Bachelor Bug. I found myself falling into the trap of reality TV and becoming hypnotized by Ben Higgins’ every word. Now I am completely hooked  and counting down the hours until Monday night. Here are the 8 thoughts I’ve had while watching my first ever season:

 1. Are we sure this show is legal?

Like are they actually allowed to make this show for national tv? How can he have so many girlfriends at once?

2.  How do the contestants get so much time off work?

“Is it okay if I take three months off work? I’m going to find true love!” I want to meet the kind of employer who says yes to that request.

3. Do they feel as uncomfortable filming this as I feel watching it?

Can someone say AWKWARD!!

4. I wonder if Ben would date me?

I’ll move to Colorado for you, Ben

5.  Does the bachelor’s mom watch the show?

I really hope not for her sake

6. What is this guy even doing here?

Also where do I apply for that job?

7. I feel like it would be a lot easier if they all just joined eHarmony

8. Can someone pass the wine

Like, now. Please.
