The “what am I going to do this summer” question is a scary and stressful one, and is a question that we all face throughout our university careers. For some of us, finding the perfect summer internship, preferably one that is paid, would be the perfect answer. Unfortunately, summer internships don’t just appear out of nowhere – they require many hours, cover letters, and emails to obtain. In honor of summer being only a few months away, here are the 10 struggles university students face when trying to get that experience-filled summer:
1. Procrastinating on looking for a summer internship….
2. …and then realizing you really need to start looking for a summer internship
3. Trying to find an internship that you actually meet the job requirements for
4. So. Many. Cover. Letters.
5. Reading and re-reading over the emails before you send off your cover letter and résumé
6. Anxiously waiting to hear back from the internships you’ve applied for
7. Rejection. So much rejection.
8. The excitement you feel when you land an interview and then the realization that you have to make time to prepare for that interview
9. Stumbling on interview questions you definitely did not expect
10. That feeling when you get an internship after months of blood, sweat, and tears!
Good luck, HCUBC reader! We believe in you!
