UAB Men’s Golf Team Now Ranked #8 Nationally!

As of today, September 28, 2011, the UAB men’s golf team is ranked 8th in the nation. The Blazers started off the 2011-2012 with a win at the Sam Hall Intercollegiate in Hattiesburg, Mississippi by shooting a 16-under par 836. The team didn’t let up at their next tournament when they placed 2nd in the Saint Mary’s Intercollegiate in Monterey, California. The team’s scoring average is a sub-par 71.43, which is also ranked top-ten nationally.Sam Love, a sophomore on the UAB men’s golf team says, “I’m really proud of all the hard work we have all put in and it’s paying off by being ranked nationally. We figured we would be in the top 25 but we would never imagine being in the top 10. It gives us motivation to keep working harder and keep playing well.” The boy’s next tournament is the Jerry Pate Intercollegiate on October 3-4 at Old Overton Country Club in Birmingham. Come support the blazers and cheer them on to their next victory!

Jaime is a junior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. There she is the captain of her varsity golf team and a journalism and English double-major. She is an active member in the Student Athletic Advisory Committee where she helps organize volunteer opportunities and social functions for student-athletes at UAB.
