Sterling K. Brown made history on Sunday night when he took home the award for Best Lead Actor in a TV Drama! Brown won for his outstanding performance in the television hit series This Is Us. He is the first black male actor to take home the Golden Globe in this category.

Brown noted his appreciation for such a high recognition: “Throughout the majority of my career, I have benefited from color blind casting, which means, ‘Hey, let’s throw a brother in this role,’ right? It’s always really cool,” Brown said. “Dan Fogelman, you wrote a role for a black man, like that could only be played by a black man. So, what I appreciate so much about this thing is that I am being seen for who I am and being appreciated for who I am.”

Sterling K. Brown recently took home an Emmy and a NAACP Image award for his role as Randall Pearson on This Is Us. His successes seem to be on the rise as he continues to pick up roles. You can catch Brown on the big screen in the highly anticipated Black Panther film. This Is Us returns tomorrow, January 9th at 8 p.m. CST on NBC.
