Mickeah: What made you choose Public Health as your major?

Shreya: I chose Public health because I am Pre-Med and aspire to work abroad.

 

Mickeah: What would you say is your favorite thing about UAB?

Shreya: The diversity and open-mindedness. 

 

Mickeah: What advice do you have to upcoming freshman?

Shreya: Don’t be afraid to branch out and explore! Meet new people and try new things. 

 

Mickeah: Are you involved in any organizations here on campus?

Shreya: I’m an RA in Rast Hall, the Vice President of Planned Parenthood: Generation Action, the Vice President of Green Initiative, and I’m the Social Advocacy Chair of Global Health Interest Group! 

 

Mickeah: What is one thing that you love about being a Resident Assistant?

Shreya: Meeting and getting to know new people! This past year, I’ve become very close friends with a lot of people I probably wouldn’t have met if I wasn’t an RA. 

 

Mickeah: What would you say has been your biggest challenge being an RA?

Shreya: Time management and prioritizing responsibilities. 

 

Mickeah: What is your role as Vice President of Planned Parenthood?

Shreya: I help organize events, lead meetings, hand out free condoms and sex tips, table for different causes, and more. 

 

Mickeah: What inspired you to get involved with Planned Parenthood?

Shreya: I’m very passionate about sexual health, reproductive rights, and political activism. I like how inclusive and progressive the organization is as a whole and I support the right to make your own, informed decision about what to do with your body. 

 

Mickeah: Describe yourself in 3 words.

Shreya: Passionate, kind, and optimistic. 

 

Mickeah: What do you hope the future holds for you?

Shreya: I hope to become a psychiatrist or gynecologist and work to decrease health disparities in minority communities. 

 

Mickeah: What do you like to do in your free time?

Shreya: I like hanging out with friends, listening to music, reading the news, and looking at memes. 

 

Mickeah: Do you have any fun summer plans?

Shreya: I plan on staying in Birmingham and taking classes! I’m excited to explore Birmingham and spend time with friends.
