Is it just me or does it seem like the better you know someone, the harder it is to find gifts for them? My parents and friend boy (not yet a boyfriend, but not a friend either) are always the hardest to shop for! All my dad does is golf, mom says “I don’t need anything”, and the friend boy is obsessed with photography (sorry I don’t have $2000 to throw down on a wide angle lens, hun!). So, I’ve compiled a fool-proof gift guide for those of you out there who struggle like I do. Behold, the epic 2011 Christmakwanzakuh gift guide!
Upper left corner represents your girl friends. This year, I’m obsessed with buying anything sparkly. Could it be the ever-present sequin trend plaguing all the stores? I don’t know, but I’m loving it. Pick her up an oversized clutch, some fun Betsey Johnson earrings, or some of the trendiest nail polishes of the season. (Helloooo Chanel). If your mom is anything like mine, she’s probably stressed, running around, and working 24/7/365. Show her some stress-free lovin’ by buying an awesome bottle of wine, making something chocolate from scratch, and mixing together some homemade bath salts (recipe here: http://www.marthastewart.com/272862/homemade-bath-salts). Then surprise her with two tickets to that thing she loves. Now, on to the boyfriend/dad/tricky other male in your life. I promise they will be overwhelmed if you tell them that a murse is all the rage in Italy…don’t buy them a man purse, they’ll never wear it. Start small by injecting a colorful button-down or fun bowtie into his wardrobe. If he’s more into P90x than fashion, get him an armband ipod holder for when he has an intense run. Does he like technology? Get him a cool phone case or ipad holder. Or, buy him my personal favorite, a beer making kit! Then you can share his creation later. ;)
Remember, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to make a gift really special. All of these gift ideas are under $100.
Hope this helped, Happy Holidays!
