A Thank You Letter to my Mom

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Wyoming chapter.

You taught me manners, and to always say ‘thank you,’ but I never said it quite enough to the person who deserved it the most. You.

So thank you, mom. Thank you for all you do and continue to do for me.

Thank you for teaching me to tie my shoes, and embracing my shoe obsession.

Thank you for making lunches, breakfast for dinner, and always checking to make sure I ate.

Thank you driving me to dance class every week, and teaching me how to sew costumes and shoes.

Thank you for letting me bring home animals and then falling in love with them, too.

Thank you for supporting all my dreams, even when you knew they’d be short lived.

Thank you for not being angry with me for doing the exact thing you so strongly advised me against.

Thank you for answering all my calls, and telling me you love me before hanging up.

Thank you for waiting until after noon on Sunday’s to call.

Thank you for the random care packages, and the thoughtful cards that come with them.

Thank you for reminding me of my worth, even when I seem to forget.

Thank you for supporting my career decisions.

Thank you for patiently walking me through how to fill out paperwork at the doctor’s office.

Thank you for not judging me when I drunk call you just to talk.

Thank you for laughing with me.

Thank you for sharing inside jokes with me, as cheesy as they can be.

Thank you for giving me your good looks (still bitter about the eyes, but you know that).

Thank you for teaching me about grit and perseverance.

Thank you for acknowledging when you send me cash, its going to be spent on beer.

Thank you for sharing a love for Mexican food.

Thank you for “showing me off” to your coworkers when I visit.

Thank you for pushing me to be the best me I can be.

Thank you for giving me one hell of a role model.

Thank you for teaching me that I can handle anything life throws my way.

Thank you for loving me with all your heart, even when I’m not very lovable.

Thank you for being my mom, and my best friend.
