Meet HC Wyoming: Jamie Bridenstine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Wyoming chapter.

Name: Jamie Bridenstine

Major: Communication with a minor in Military Science

Class Standing: Senior

Role in HC: Social Media Chair

Why did you join HC?

I needed a creative outlet for my writing. I was a closet writer who wrote stories on sites like Wattpad. I was also really close with the CC at the time, and she told me they needed a social media person. That is exactly what I want to do with my degree.

What do you love about HC?

What’s not to love about HC? There are so many diverse writers and articles that pop out- not just in HC Wyoming. I like branching out on our website and reading the various articles.

What’s the most valuable piece of advice you’ve received?

Praise in public, and reprimand in private. It’s better to make others look good in front of everyone else, because it boosts people’s confidence. If you make others look like idiots in front of others, they will only beat themselves up over it.

What fictional place would you most love to visit?

The Hunger Games. Just kidding. Well….

If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

Super strength, because why not?

Are you usually early or late?

Another piece of advice someone gave me… If you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late, and if you’re late, you’re fired. I’m always at least 5 minutes early.

Favorite college course so far?

Public Speaking. It really set me on the right course to change my major to Communication. I love speaking in front of people.

What’s your typical restaurant order?

For the appetizer, I always get a Spinach Artichoke Dip. And then something with French fries. Probably a beer for the drink, and then I come home and eat ice cream.

What is your favorite show to binge watch?

Grey’s Anatomy.

Where is your favorite place?

The mountains.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

It has always been a dream, and will soon be a reality, that I will be an officer in the Army. In 5 years, I’ll be living up in Washington in a great Communication job- that part I haven’t figured out-and have at least two more dogs.

What is one item you cannot live without and why?

What came to mind first was my phone, but that would mean I rely too much on technology. I would be lying if I said my phone isn’t glued to me. So, what I absolutely cannot live without would be a paper and pencil, because I always like writing my ideas down before I forget them.

Favorite Food?

Pizza. Hands down.

What is one thing about college that you wish you knew before you got here?

The freshman 15 is real. I wish I had eaten better and hit the gym more often, because I’m making up for the mistakes now.

Why should someone join HC?

If you want a place where you have a creative outlet, and where people appreciate your writing, you’ve found the right place.

Abbey is a senior at the University of Wyoming and is currently majoring in Journalism. She couldn't imagine a world without Jesus, coffee, The 1975, Twitter or her family. You'll usually find her at a concert or cafe somewhere, which is where she spends majority of her free-time. Talking to band members after their shows is a hobby, along with thrifting & indulging in all aspects of pop culture. After college, she plans to spend more time at concerts, getting paid to write about music and bands.

“Sometimes you want to have a very productive Saturday to feel that you are in control of your life, which of course you are not.” -Tina Fey, Bossypants Jamie Bridenstine... How do I even begin to explain Jamie Bridenstine. Jamie Bridenstine is flawless. She has two Fendi purses and a silver Lexus. I hear her hair's insured for $10,000. I hear she does car commercials... in Japan. Her favorite movie is Varsity Blues. One time, she met John Stamos on a plane. And he told her she was pretty. One time, she punched me in the face. It was awesome. Jamie Bridenstine is a 4th year undergrad at the University of Wyoming, earning her B.A. in Communication and a minor in Military Science. Her favorite move is Mean Girls... and any movie with Tina Fey in it. She enjoys deep conversations about politics, procrastinating on group projects, and watching The Office over and over again. Jamie has the cutest dog in the world, Timber, and is ready to take on the world after college. She will be heading up to Washington after graduation to pursue her career in the military... and hopefully her graduate degree in Public Relations.
