20 thoughts from a girl who just turned 20

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Wyoming chapter.

Based on the title of this article you may think that this will be all happy, goofy, and “relatable” (whatever that means). This is much more than that. It is a look into my life and my values as a human being. These are 20 thoughts that either help push me through my day or surround me until it is hard to breathe. They are all so important, though.

  1. Helping people is one of the best things that you can do.

  2. No matter how hard you try, you’ll never be able to impress everyone.

  3. Friends are hard to find, and sometimes even harder to keep.

  4. Politics, religion, and current events stress me out, but keeping an open mind makes it much better.

  5. It’s never okay to force yourself into doing something you hate. You deserve better.

  6. I love my life, always have, always will.

  7. Passion isn’t something that develops overnight. It takes so much from you, but it is so good for you.

  8. Home can be more than one place.

  9. Independence is not necessarily a keystone to “growing up”.

  10. Love is a four letter word, so is hard. Love is hard.

  11. It’s okay to take breaks when you need them. A chance to regroup is never bad.

  12. Never stop learning.

  13. Apologies are thoughtful, but not always necessary.

  14. It is never okay to treat someone as if they are lesser than you. Never.

  15. Singing in the shower is the best remedy to a bad day.

  16. You are loved. I am loved.

  17. Family is everything, even if they do “drive you up the wall” daily.

  18. The decisions I make not only affect me, but also everyone around me.

  19. Celebrate the small things.

  20. It’s okay to get a little lost in life.
