1. Â Â Â Â Put good things into your body
You only get one body, so be nice to it. Now, I am in no way saying that you should eat kale until you hate yourself. I mean, I’m a firm believer in the idea that margaritas fix everything. I’m well aware that they aren’t the healthiest choice, but sometimes they are “good” for me. So try to make a point to switch out a bag of chips for an apple, or only eat half the pint of ice cream in one sitting. The point is, you know your body better than anyone else, and it will thank you for putting good things (mentally and physically) into it.

2. Â Â Â Â Stay away from Fuckboys
We all wish this wasn’t on the resolutions list, but here we are. Ladies, you have had a year of experience dealing with fuckboys, no more excuses. He’s not going to change, he isn’t being romantic, and he doesn’t want a relationship. Save yourself some time and heartache this year. Stay away from fuckboys!
Â
3. Â Â Â Â Call your mom (or someone you love) more often
During this time in your life, it’s easy to get busy. Too busy to do laundry, too busy to shower daily, too busy to schedule doctor appointments… While you’re busy being, well, busy, don’t forget to make time for the people in your life. Call you grandma, or your mom. Reconnect with an old friend. Take a few minutes each week to call someone you care about. I promise you won’t regret it. Besides, your laundry can wait another day.
Â
4.     Say “Thank you” more often
At times we can get so absorbed in ourselves, that we forget simple manners. Make sure to thank the guy who holds the door open for you, thank the barista at Starbucks, and thank your professor after class. If you make a point to thank at least one person a day, not only are you making their day a little brighter, but you’re finding more reasons to be grateful for yours.
5. Â Â Â Â Smile at the little things
The funny thing about smiles, is they are quite contagious. Don’t believe me? Walk around for even just an hour and smile at everyone you pass. I would be willing to bet money I don’t have, that 95% of people will smile back. Don’t just stop at people though. Smile at the innocence of fresh snow, smile at warm days and sunshine, and smile at your cup of coffee. Each morning you get the choice to make the day what you want it to be. So wake up with a smile, and go spread happiness.
6.     Embrace your inner Beyoncé
Gurl. As if I need to explain this one. Wake up every morning feeling fierce, put on that outfit you know you look good in, and strut your fabulous self through the day. Own it.
7. Â Â Â Â Try something new
Whether it’s something you’ve always wanted to try, or it’s a spur of the moment decision, go for it! Step out of your comfort zone and see what happens. You’ll either discover something you love, or you’ll have a funny story to share later on. You won’t know, until you try.
8. Â Â Â Â Make a new friend
A new semester presents several opportunities to meet new people. Sit next to someone you don’t know, and make a point of introducing yourself. Next time you’re out on the town, compliment that girl on her super cute shoes, or offer to take a photo for the group of girls trying to “selfie” it. There’s all sorts of ways to meet new people, so just do it.
9.     Let go of something you’ve been holding on to
I won’t lie, I am the queen of holding grudges. I struggle with resentment issues, and I’m still caught up on my ex. But I’m also the first to admit it’s time to let go. I know that this is quite possibly the hardest task on this list, but it is the most important. This year, let go of something you’ve held onto for too long. Do it for you.
Â
10. Â Work to become a better you, every day.
As cliché as the whole “new year, new me” thing is, it’s totally true. Here is your chance to wake up with a can do attitude, look in the mirror at your competition, and work to be better you than you were yesterday.
