I watched The Vampire Diaries (TVD) for the first time this year, and let me tell you, it became an obsession fast. Before I knew it, my prime studying hours were blinking away with each episode. The characters were so well developed, and I couldn’t help noticing that their personalities aligned with the twelve zodiac signs. Whether you’re in desperate need of a rewatch or your curiosity is piqued, discover below which character aligns with your sign!
Aries: March 21 – April 19
Known for their boldness and risk-taking tendencies, Aries look for challenges to spice up their everyday lives. Like tall, dark, and handsome Damon Salvatore, you always have a plan (or two) to save the day, and you’re not afraid to fight for the people you care about. Damon put it best, “You want a love that consumes you. You want passion and adventure, and even a little danger”.
Taurus: April 20 – May 20
Fiercely loyal and dependable, Taurus represents all the best qualities of TVD’s favourite witch, Bonnie Bennett. Like Bonnie, you will do anything for the people you love, whether that means conjuring up a spell to save your friends or simply lending a listening ear. You also have a stubborn streak, which can put you, for better or for worse, in unpredictable situations.
Gemini: May 21 – June 20
As well as being witty and adaptable, Geminis are often described as multifaceted. Elena Gilbert’s doppelgänger, Katherine Pierce fits this description to a tee. On the surface, she presents as cold-hearted and cunning, but deep down, she’s a girl searching for an all-consuming love. Like the brunette baddie that both Salvatore brothers fell for in the 1800s, you have an innate charm that draws people in like a magnet.
Cancer: June 21 – July 22
Symbolized by the crab, Cancers are known for their emotional and intuitive nature. Who embodies their sensitive side more than high-school-girl-turned-vampire Elena Gilbert? Similar to Elena, you have a strong desire for connection, and you’ll do just about anything for the people you love. You experience your emotions deeply, and often feel misunderstood when your friends don’t feel the same.
Leo: July 23 – Aug. 22
Like Caroline Forbes, Leos enjoy being the centre of attention and the life of the party. Although you can be a drama queen at times, you’re organized to a tee, and you exude the qualities of a natural-born leader. Similar to the blonde vampire bombshell, you find yourself juggling your many extracurriculars, quests to save your friends, and your fiery love life.
Virgo: Aug. 23 – Sept. 22
Best known for their hard-working and analytical nature, Virgos are the textbook definition of Type A personality. Similar to the vampire hunter and occult studies professor, Alaric Saltzman, you’re detail-oriented and extremely perceptive. You have a dry sense of humour, but can quickly switch to a serious demeanour when needed.
Libra: Sept. 23 – Oct. 22
Known as a social butterfly and supportive friend, like Lexi Branson, you only want the best for the people you love. You’re not afraid to let loose and have a little fun, and you might be spotted singing your heart out at a rock concert! Libras look for the good in everyone, and your positive outlook on life is infectious.
Scorpio: Oct. 23 – Nov. 21
Sometimes described as being mysterious and secretive, Scorpios like to keep to themselves. But make no mistake—deep down, they yearn for intimate connections with others. Love her or hate her, Rebekah Mikaelson is the very definition of a Scorpio. Like Rebekah, you have a certain charisma (maybe it’s the British accent), and your best trait is your loyalty to the people closest to you.
Sagittarius: Nov. 22 – Dec. 21
Sagittarians are known for their daredevil streak. Like vampire hunter Jeremy Gilbert, you’re always searching for the next adventure to spice up your life. You also have a creative side and love doing art in your spare time. In between your many travels, you find it easy to make new friends, and your quick humour makes your company sought after.
Capricorn: Dec. 22 – Jan. 19
Maybe your elementary school teachers labelled you as ‘responsible’ and ‘determined’ on report cards, or perhaps you related to TVD’s Matt Donovan on a spiritual level. Whatever the case may be, Capricorns are hardworking, ambitious, and value honesty above all else. Like Matt, you’re straightforward—you say it like it is.
Aquarius: Jan. 20 – Feb. 18
In addition to an analytical mind and sharp intellect, Aquarians have a rebellious streak that keeps people on their toes.
