Single for Valentine’s Day?
Instead of moping around your house wishing you received something from a secret admirer. Treat yourself to a Valentine’s week!
Having a focus on YOU week can be extremely beneficial for those single ladies out there! Who cares if your BFF has a long term BF? Who cares if she has elaborate dinner plans and bought a shiny new outfit for the day? It’s one day out of 364!
Instead, take your Mom or Dad out for a nice dinner; go with your brother or sister. (Unless they’re taken). Learn an instrument, perhaps pick up a guitar or hit up the piano you have laying around and check out some online websites to get quick lessons. Learn one song or one chord, play anything!
If playing an instrument doesn’t pleasure you then why not check out a local spa and spoil yourself! Hey, all the money you saved for yourself instead of buying gifts can be all for YOU! Get a facial, get a massage, how about a pedi or a mani? Some gel nails perhaps? Make YOU feel GOOD! It’s a YOU week and YOU deserve it.
Yeah, it will be everywhere. The whole “single awareness day” but have you ever heard of the quote. “Being single doesn’t mean you’re weak, it means you’re strong enough and smart enough to wait for what you deserve”. Live by those words, they are absolutely true! You don’t need someone else to make you happy! You need YOU to be happy first and foremost!
Another idea for the week would be to collect your girlfriends, (preferably the single ones) and have a girl’s night! Have red and pink drinks, play love games, check some online dating sites. Do fun things with them; it’ll take your mind off of the longing for a significant other! If, in that unfortunate circumstance, you have no single girlfriends, round up some relatives! Go visit Grandma if you have to; just make sure you’re around people so you don’t doubt your happiness.
This is also a great week to go buy a whole new wardrobe, why not go as far to even a hair makeover? Head on down to a mall and instead of walking past the makeup demos in Sephora, ask for one! If spending money on clothes and makeup will make you feel nice then do it!
If none of these tickle your fancy, then instead of celebrating the single life, you can also have a week to yourself where that rocky road ice cream is okay. Indulge in that mac and cheese loaded with calories. Buy all the chocolate you can, maybe buy yourself a fondue maker. They’re cheap at Wal-Mart! Eat all the junk food you want and instead of renting a rom-com, just download the torrents on isohunt.com! You’ll save money and time so your ice cream doesn’t melt!
With a few things to do you’re sure to have something to do this Valentine’s week. Don’t stay in bed with the covers over your head, face it, be strong. And remember to smile and love yourself! Valentine’s day is about love, so love YOU first!
