After a new single, taking over the girls’ Super Bowl, and entering the beauty industry, Tate McRae has been very busy these past few months! If you haven’t heard about everything she’s been up to since August, no worries—I’m here to catch you up.
First, and most exciting: Tate’s Osheaga and Lollapalooza performances. After her Miss Possessive Tour wrapped in November of last year, Tate went into hibernation, shall we say. She took a well-deserved break, caught up with friends, and reentered the studio to excite all her devoted fans. We were all waiting for her next album announcement. Instead, we were treated to incredible performances from the singer-songwriter at these festivals. And her performances? Mind-blowing! She delivered with her dance moves, hit every note, and gave us a mash-up and bridge we never expected to hear live.
Though all of those moments were spectacular, one aspect of her shows stood out the most: her teasers. Between songs, fans got their first look at new graphics and aesthetics for what one can only hope is her next album. It was giving golden goddess, enchanting siren, or phoenix rising from the ashes. There are many interpretations of what aesthetic her next album may be, but Tate wanted to be clear about one thing: the colour scheme. She ended both performances by dipping herself in shimmering gold paint—how much more obvious can she get?
Speaking of golden, Tate has gained a strange love for autumn recently. At the beginning of September, Tate began posting suspicious stories expressing her excitement for fall. She then posted stories from the Calvin Klein fashion show she attended during New York Fashion Week, adding the caption, “Very fall, I would say,” once again hinting toward this autumnal theme. On September 12th, she added a photo carousel post, captioning it with fall-related emojis, most notably a fall leaf and yellow heart. All of these stories and photos featured stunning, glowing, golden lighting, which not only supports her fall theme but also the golden aesthetic of her festival performances.
Gold paint, golden lighting… coincidence? I think not.
On October 7th, Tate announced her new single, “Housewife,” releasing on the 15th. That’s just in time for her performance at the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show on October 18th. Typically, when Tate announces a new single, she releases the album announcement and tour dates soon after, and after her Lolla and Osheaga performances, I can’t wait to see what this next tour brings!
Tate has also entered the beauty industry with her first perfume, Tate 01. She says this perfume is “right in the middle of Tate and Tatiana.” The best of both worlds? No wonder everyone seems to love their bottle. I immediately ordered mine when the announcement dropped, so I’m excited to experience this perfume for myself soon!
October is set to be an exciting month for Tatertots and occasional Tate McRae listeners alike! With all these new milestones and announcements from McRae, it’s clear a new era is on the rise; I can’t wait to see what happens next.
