Dream Themes for the MET Gala

The MET gala has been in existence for 21 years. Attendees of this exclusive event have included Jackie Kennedy, Kim Kardashian West, Gisele Bundchen and more. The themes are as outrageous as the gala is opulent. In light of the announcement of the 2019 theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, here are 5 make-believe themes we hope Anna Wintour would approve of.

Diana: Reign of Colour blocking

Lady Gaga in Murray Arbeid ca. 1986

Commedia dell’arte: the inception of theatre/the age of improvisation

Janelle Monáe in Pierrot costume (based on a drawing by Maurice Sand ca. 1860)

Lanvin: a century of elegance

Meryl Streep in Lanvin ca. 1926

Arturo Di Modica and the Fearless Girl

Brooklynn Prince in Meadham Kirchhoff SS12

Let them eat cake: the rise and fall of Versailles

Cardi B in dress based on a Milena Canonero design (costume designer for Marie Antoinette 2006)
