Buffalo Traffic Jam has completely taken over my Spotify playlists and TikTok “For You” page. Formed in Bozeman, Montana, this folk duo has completely blown up. Frankie Cassidy and Nathan Ross created Buffalo Traffic Jam while attending Montana State University. The duo just finished opening for Dylan Gossett on his Westward Wind tour across the States. They are also appearing at the Tortuga Music Festival next year and are making it big on social media.

With stripped-down instrumentals and vocals that have been compared to CAAMP, Buffalo Traffic Jam will put you in your emotions and make you feel, whether it’s longing, joy, a bittersweet in-between, or heartbreak. The songs linger long after they’ve finished. Their newest EP, “Take Me Home,” came out on Oct. 24 and features songs such as “Fool’s Gold” (my personal favourite) and “Can’t Let Go.”

With lyrics such as “Just tell me that you need me/Just tell me that you won’t leave/There’s lies in your nicotine/Goddamnit it, I can’t breathe/Cheap cigarettes and gasoline/You find comfort, comfort in misery” (“Comfort in Misery”) and “If you need me, just call my phone/’Cause I once called your heart my home/I know we’re strangers now/And we broke somehow” (“Strangers Now”), each song captures their raw emotions. The lyricism of their songs makes them stand out amongst other folk artists, capturing the bittersweetness of growing up but still being lost in life as a twenty-something-year-old.

The band announced that they are headlining their own tour; however, they are not coming anywhere close by on the West Coast. Though if you find yourself on the East Coast, you should keep an eye out for one of their already sold-out tour dates!

Paige has been with Her Campus since September of 2022 as both a writer and editor before deciding to take on a larger role as Chapter Leader for one year. As a former Campus Correspondents at the Her Campus at UVic chapter, Paige published content, managed the executive team, oversaw retention and recruitment, and hosted meetings, now she is back to simply writing and editing, what she truly enjoys.

She has done media for a non-profit as well as collabing with local newspapers to promote the festival that the non-profit ran.

As a fourth-year writing major at UVic, Paige is minoring in journalism with a focus in creative nonfiction. She received a scholarship for a short story she wrote in 2020. She has also received various academic scholarships for her grades. She hopes to go into either publishing/editing or working for a newspaper/magazine somewhere in Europe one day, ideally in the world of Formula One.

In her free time, Paige watches and keeps up with the Formula One world. She also enjoys reading a good book, bingeing one of her favourite TV shows such as Criminal Minds, and visiting bookstores.
