Eyebrows tend to be the most neglected feature of a woman’s face. We highlight our eyes, cheeks, and lips, so why do we have a tendency to not highlight our brows? No doubt most women either pluck their own brows or go for professional shaping – either waxing or threading. As we all have different facial structures and defining features, I am not here to suggest how to find your perfect brow shape. That’s up to you and your stylist. The focus of this week’s beauty blog is to make sure you know how to highlight the shape you already have, so your brows look perfect.

Step 1: Filler

For the lucky women, eyebrow hair is coarse, full, and long, extending beyond your eyes all the way along your brow bone. However, this is not most of us! Over the years of changing your brow shape and size, there is a tendency for hair to not grow back in certain areas. Often, the front part of the brow closest to the tear duct of the eye, grows back separated and sparse or the hair extending to the back end of the eye doesn’t go long enough. My tip to you is to not be afraid to use a brow pencil on a daily basis to fill in and smooth out your eyebrows. If you don’t think you need it, try it anyway and see what you think. It can make a difference you didn’t know it would!

My impulse buy of the week is Dior’s Diorshow Brow Styler. Ladies, this is the easiest tool to own, as it only comes in one shade: Universal Brown. What this means is that it works on anyone, from blonde hair to black hair and back again. Depending on the pressure, it will darken or lighten until just right for you. Dior provides a brush on the other end to smooth out the overall eyebrow, leaving you with the most natural look possible.

Step 2: Hold

Okay, so you’ve filled in your brows but now the problem is that they tend not to stay in place. There is a solution to this, it’s called eyebrow gel. You can use either a clear eyebrow gel or a colored eyebrow gel (it looks like a mascara wand) and, just like you would mascara, comb your eyebrows into place. Once dried, your brows will stay looking fabulous until your cleansing routine at the end of the day.

My impulse buy of the week is Lancome’s Brow Expert. The gel has a firm hold but doesn’t show on the hair, nor does it clump or leave residue. Lancome provides three different shades, a Taupe for blondes or light brown hair, Chataigne for red heads, and Brunet for women with medium to dark brown hair. Unfortunately, they do not provide a black, so if you are looking for a hold for black eyebrows, try a clear gel.

A final helpful hint to making your brows look perfect is to use eye shadow and a thin angled brush to fill in missing areas or create overall color! Make sure the eye shadow is matte and matches your hair color for the most natural look.
