Back-to-School Wish List

Heading back to class can be difficult – but a little bit of shopping can make it a whole lot easier. Instead of having your back to school shopping be a walk around the booths on Career day to take all the free pens, check out these fun and unique buys and make your gloomy September a little brighter.

Blanket Scarf

Blanket scarfs are one of the biggest trends this summer. Not only are they super cute, but they’re also the most acceptable way to literally bring a blanket to class with you! Perfect for cold September mornings, you can wrap this over a cute knit sweater or just curl up with it in the back of the lecture hall. Even with these multi-purpose abilities, this scarf from Dynamite is only $30!

Rain Boots

Yes, Uvic girls love their Hunter boots. But if you’re looking for a cheaper alternative, check out Modcloths selection, like the ones pictured here that are only $40. Target tends to have some cute ones as well for even lower prices. These are practically a necessity for anyone living on the West Coast, especially now that school has started and the rain is coming.

Cookbook

This might be your first time away from home or maybe you’ve decided to try cooking and eating more than just chicken nuggets and cereal. Either way, a new cookbook is a great way to get you started and give you some inspiration. There is one perfect fix for all your back to school feelings, and that is Mac n Cheese. We love this cookbook that you can currently get for $14 that has 50 ways to make the best comfort food ever created.

USB Foot Warmers

Yes, these adorable smiling s’mores are in fact, computer powered feet warmers. Do you need these? Probably not. But now you have no choice but to buy them because look how cute they are! At $40, these little guys might just be worth it if it means you wouldn’t have to walk on freezing tiles when winter comes around, and they would make all your study sessions that much more cozy. But we know what you’re thinking – What about my hands?! Don’t fret – they have hand warmers too!

Laundry Hamper

This $38 laundry hamper might be a bit of splurge, but if you’re on campus and carrying your loads back and forth from your dorm room to the laundry buildings, this might make the experience a bit more fun.

USB

A good USB is super important for back to school, especially If you’re printing off your papers on campus. This $6 USB is not only useful, but would give you a boost of empowerment every time you use it! You won’t have to do your confidence-boosting power pose every morning when your USB is doing it for you.

Stapler

A stapler is definitely a staple (ha!) in every student’s room. We’re loving this eco friendly, staple-free one that is both cute and affordable. Definitely a fun addition to any desk, and essential for your essays and papers.

Lunch Bag

Even if you don’t bring a lunch to school, you might just have to buy this adorable lunch box. $30 to be the grooviest kid on campus is totally worth it.

Agenda

Agendas can be hard to get into, but once you make a habit of keeping one they can make your academic and personal life much simpler and more organized. There are plenty of cute planners all over the place, but we’re loving these ones from Chapters, that come in lots of different patterns and sizes.

Good Pen

A set of good pens is definitely worth the investment if you handwrite your notes. You might think the free ones you took are good enough, but once you try something a bit higher quality, like these $7 ones, it’s hard to go back.

Note Catapult

Potentially the most useless thing on this list, we have found a note catapult. I mean post it notes are definitely a good idea; for jotting down reminders, marking pages in textbooks, and leaving notes for your roommates. Luckily, post its do come with this set, but what makes it so exciting and useless is that it includes a small device that lets you fling your crumpled up note into the air. You will never have to get up to put a note in the garbage ever again- if you have good aim.

Bank Book

University gets expensive. Make keeping track of your expenses a little easier in this cute personal banker. Yes, you could write it down on a piece of paper or in your phone, but it can be beneficial to have a book dedicated specifically to your funds and can even help you save money.

There are always ways to make back to school more enjoyable, and a few fun purchases can really make a difference!
