7 Signs You’ve Cracked

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Vic chapter.

Stress does funny things to our minds, and so we do funny things due to stress. As you approached the end of this term, you might have noticed yourself developing some weird quirks like becoming addicted to Bon Appétit test kitchen videos, googling pictures of dogs in sweaters, or maybe you just started bursting into hysterical fits of laughter for no reason. For every strange action and decision you might have made this semester, there is only one diagnosis that explains them all – you cracked. If you identify with any one of the 7 symptoms below, chances are you cracked.

1. You Google pictures of dogs wearing sweaters.

2. You only watch Bon Appetit (BA) test kitchen videos and then find out everything there is to know about the staff in the BA test kitchen videos.

3. You randomly start flossing or doing any kind of dance move when waiting for the bus.

4. You take up a hobby such as painting or bread baking with such intensity that you might as well be the next Picasso or enter The Great British Bake Off.

5. You burst into hysterical fits of laughter… which then turns into crying.

6. You start to narrate your life like you’re David Attenborough narrating Planet Earth.

7. You become deeply invested in your own horoscope and the horoscopes of others.

If you or anyone you know is suffering from any of the symptoms above, please wrap them in a warm blanket, bring them a cup of tea and tell them everything is going to be alright.

Kate is a linguistics major at the University of Victoria. Although she is only 22 years old, Kate is truly a granny at heart. She could not imagine a world in which sweaters, dogs, coffee, and brunch did not exist. In her spare time Kate likes to create inspirational quotes to live by. Her quote of the moment is "Life is a party and I have the streamers!"
