Ahh summer is finally upon us!! For university students, this means 4 glorious months away from the intense stress and worries of school. So much free time, but unsure of what to do with it all? Read on!

Get a job/internship:

This seem like the most obvious one to many people. Not only would you potentially get experience with something in your field, but you would also get PAID. Being broke uni students, who wouldn’t love getting a little extra cash? Only advice: Apply early. Lot’s of summer job position applications open in February and March. The earlier you apply, the more opportunities there would be available, which means you can really pick something that you enjoy doing rather than choosing something out of desperation.

Do summer school:

This obviously isn’t everyone’s first choice of “fun activities to do in the summer” but sometimes it is a good way to relieve some of the stress from heavy courses for the following year. Plus doing 1-2 courses in the summer is much more chill than taking 5-6 during a regular semester.

Travel:

Picture this: taking a road trip with your best friends. The windows are down, a light wind is blowing in the air, your music is blasting out the car, and you are just loving life. There is not a single care in the world and you are just enjoying every moment of it. Whether you are flying to a foreign exotic country to sight-see and explore, or just driving up a few hours to a nearby town, going to a new place for the summer just has a totally cool and exciting vibe to it.

Go camping:

I know I know, camping isn’t for everyone! To be honest, I am not the biggest fan of outdoorsy activities either BUT I do think everyone should try going camping once. It is a great way to bond with friends and literally just hang out all day and do nothing. Best part? Sitting around the campfire at night, all cozied up, trading horror stories (or in my case, funny stories because scary stuff is a no go for me), and eating all the s’mores in the world. Trust me, that isn’t something you can replicate in the comfort of your house.

Make a bucket list and complete it:

It can be as crazy and weird as going skydiving or randomly dancing in the middle of the streets to taking a pottery class or baking every type of cookie there is. Whatever sparks your interest, just write it down and GO FOR IT.

Start the creative project that you have always wanted to do but were too hesitant or scared to go through with it:

Come on, no excuses! You have four months!! Remember that novel idea you pitched a while back? Why not make it into a real thing. What about the scrapbooking service you wanted to start? Now is the perfect time to give it a go. Think back to any cool thing you really wanted to try but was afraid it would be too much commitment/time/stress. With so much time on your hands all of the sudden, there is no reason to not at least give it a chance. You got this!

So, what are you planning to do for the summer? Did any of these suggestions give you a better idea of how you are going to spend your 4 months? Whatever it is, just make sure that you have tons of awesome and fabulous stories to bring back in September!
