Tired of Facebook? Don’t see the point in Twitter? Read everything on Her Campus U Toronto already? But somehow, your physics textbook still isn’t calling out to you? We’ve all been there and we all know the importance of having something interesting to distract us from our studies every once in a while.

Here are five sites that we think you should be wasting your time on.

Sporcle.com
Sporcle has everything a student needs to distract them from their studying while simultaneously helping them further their knowledge in useless topics. Know the name of every Canadian Prime Minister? There’s a game for that. Know every word to every Taylor Swift song but don’t want to admit it to your friends? This is the place to show your prowess.  Can you name every bone in the body? Can you type at ridiculous speeds? There’s a game for that to.

Even better is that Sporcle allows you to play against students from other schools. U of T? We’re currently ranked third in the country- and that’s just not right. So next time you have a few minutes of down time, get on Sporcle and show some school pride!

Pinterest.com
In this day and age, everyone and their mother has a blog. The blogosphere covers everything from gardening and weddings to gaming and politics. It’s gotten to the point where people have way too many blogs to follow. But face it, chances are you’re not going to DIY that cute skirt in the middle of winter and you’re probably not going to buy every gadget that gets your attention. Pinterest allows you to catalogue these interests on different boards for future reference.

Nina Garcia, Fashion Director of Marie Claire and judge extraordinaire on Project Runway, for example catalogues all the different fashion trends of the season from all the different designers on her boards. This is a great way for fashion fanatics with busy schedules to keep up with all the runway trends without having to attend New York Fashion Week or spend hours on Style.com.

Cracked.com
There’s useless information, and then there’s Cracked. Cracked takes a humorous approach to topics such as hipsters, celebrity outbursts, and historical blunders. You may not be able to trust all the historical analysis you find on Cracked, but it sure is amusing and you’re guaranteed a laugh. Just make sure you don’t read it while you’re in a cubicle in Robarts.

Hellogiggles.com
You love She & Him and Almost Famous. Heck, you even like New Girl and admit it or not you watched (500) Days of Summer for more than Joseph Gordon Levitt. People love Zooey Deschanel. Her big blue eyes, cute 50s throwback style, and awkward sense of humour have an oddly endearing affect on us.

Hellogiggles was founded by Deschanel, producer Sophia Rossi, and writer Molly Mcaleer and features a wide array of articles on topics ranging from health and beauty to an entire section called “Cuteness”. Because, really, any site with Deschanel as a founder must feature a section on cute animals.

BlogTO.com
We may gripe about the TTC and how big our campus is but the fact is, at the end of the day we all love our city. It’s a great place to live- the air is fresh, the schools are great, and its hockey fans are the best in the world. Blog TO features all the best of what Toronto has to offer. Complete with restaurant reviews and best of lists, this site also features overviews and guides to events such as Nuit Blanche or TIFF. All of this is particularly useful when you first get to the city or are just starting to live on your own. So go out there, Collegiettesand rule this city.

Natalie has recently completed her second year at the University of Toronto with a double major in History and Ethics, Society, and Law. She is excited to bring Her Campus to U of T and seeing it expand its presence in Canada. She is also active in the school's Model United Nations circles and numerous organizations off campus and is best described as a political and pop culture junkie. Born and raised in Toronto, she is blindingly proud of everything the city has to offer including the best school in the country, no matter what Macleans says, and its sports teams, no matter how many times they may lose or miss the playoffs.
